About GamepadTest.pro
GamepadTest.pro is a small, independent set of free tools for checking game controllers in the browser. It exists for one practical reason: to find out whether a controller is really faulty before you send it back, open it up or buy a new one, without installing drivers or diagnostic programs from unknown sources.
Why GamepadTest.pro exists
Controller faults creep in slowly. A camera that turns a little by itself, a jump button that misses one press in twenty, a trigger that no longer reaches full throttle, a rumble motor that went quiet. Inside a game it is hard to tell whether the cause is the controller, the connection, a driver or a game setting. GamepadTest.pro shows the raw input so the answer is clear in a minute, with numbers you can screenshot for a warranty claim, a repair shop or a support ticket.
What the tools do
The main gamepad tester shows every button, trigger and stick at once. Separate pages focus on one question each: how much a stick drifts, which deadzone hides it, whether both rumble motors work, and how many input updates per second arrive. Model pages for the PS5 DualSense, PS4 DualShock 4, Xbox and Switch Pro controllers add pairing steps, button maps and known faults.
How the tests work
All tests use the Gamepad API built into modern browsers, the same interface browser games use. The page reads the controller state many times per second, draws it and calculates the results on your device. There is no server-side processing. When a browser limits what can be measured, such as polling rate or vibration support, the page says so next to the result.
Accuracy
Button presses, trigger values and stick positions are shown exactly as the browser receives them, with no deadzone or smoothing. Drift and deadzone results are measurements over a few seconds and can vary slightly between runs. Polling rate readings depend on the browser and operating system as well as the controller; each page explains how to get the most reliable reading.
Supported controllers and browsers
- Controllers: PS5 DualSense and DualSense Edge, PS4 DualShock 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Elite controllers, Switch Pro Controller, and most USB or Bluetooth PC gamepads, arcade sticks and wheels that the system recognises as a game controller.
- Browsers: current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Safari. Chrome and Edge have the widest support, including vibration.
- Systems: Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS and Android. iPhone and iPad support depends on the controller and iOS version.
How GamepadTest.pro is funded
The tests are free and will stay free. The site may show a small number of ads to pay for hosting and development. Ads never cover the test area, and no test result is ever used for advertising, because test data never leaves your browser.
Privacy
Nothing you do in a test leaves your device. See the Privacy Policy for the details, including the services that load fonts and host the site.
